Poilievre pledges to double Newfoundland and Labrador’s oil and gas production, greenlight LNG Newfoundland and Labrador project.
St. John’s, NL — Today, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said that as Prime Minister, he will support the plan to double Newfoundland and Labrador’s oil and gas production and approve the LNG Newfoundland and Labrador project. Conservatives will work with the province to end the uncertainty and delays that a decade of Liberal government has created.
“I support Newfoundland and Labrador’s plan to double production of oil and gas,” Poilievre said. “I also will grant rapid permits for LNG Newfoundland and Labrador which will pipe gas from the Jeanne d’Arc oil field to a floating liquefaction facility which will then be shipped off to Europe to break European dependency on Putin and turn dollars for dictators into paycheques for our people.”
Doubling oil and gas production in Newfoundland and Labrador would potentially generate another billion dollars in revenue for Newfoundland’s economy, and create thousands of new jobs. Bringing home our dollars and jobs will make us stronger, so we can stand up to the Americans from a position of strength.
Canada has the 3rd largest proven oil resources in the world, yet under the Lost Liberal Decade 16 major energy projects were cancelled as ‘keep-it-in-the-ground’ laws such as C-69 and C-48 made it impossible to build the energy infrastructure Newfoundland and Labrador needs.
And Carney has promised to go further, supporting the cap on energy production that will kill 54,400 full-time jobs and cost the Canadian economy $21 billion by 2032. He has said his cap means that “maybe as much as half of oil reserves, proven oil reserves need to stay in the ground.”
Mark Carney’s radical anti-Canadian energy agenda would plunge Canada into a permanent recession. It is the wrong plan for a country like ours, blessed with vast and valuable natural resources. Mark Carney has made his choice and a fourth Liberal term will only make our country weaker and poorer.
Only a new Conservative government will rapidly approve resource projects and quickly build the energy infrastructure Newfoundland and Labrador needs to unleash our economy and put Canada First—For a Change.
